Abstract: The teaching and learning of critical thinking have become indispensable in institutions of learning. This is because the performances of most graduates of institutions do not match the certificates they are carrying. This article studied the Applicability of Critical Thinking in the Teaching and Learning of Science Education. Literature of related work was reviewed. It was found that there are challenges in teaching and learning critical thinking. These challenges include difficulty in identifying thinking barriers and lack of support from educational institutions. Critical thinking skill is assembled in a broader variety of perspectives, “thought and knowledge” remain indispensable in shaping thinking abilities of individuals that will help them solve life problems. The researchers therefore, recommend that Support should be continually given to teachers to develop their critical thinking as well as those of their students for more productivity in everyday activities, Emphasis on grades during employment should be discouraged as it kills students critical thinking level, Science teachers should always adopt the use of teaching aids that enhance preparing the minds of students towards developing thinking levels during various lessons, self-directed research method should always be implemented as it can significantly aid understanding of  some scientific phenomena  and thinking skills  abilities of learners; and further researches need to be done in this area.
