Abstract: A cross-sectional study assessed diabetes knowledge and practices among 150 residents of Gwagwalada, FCT, Nigeria. A random and convenient sampling was used to select the participants that were readily available from the general population resident in Gwagwalada. Collected data was analyzed using SPSS for frequencies, means and percentages of responses. Descriptive and inferential statistical analyses were determined using chi square test. Findings revealed significant gaps in awareness, with 66.7% unaware of target glucose levels and 27.3% uninformed about diabetes complications. Self-management was poor, with 63.3% failing to adhere to medications. Enhancing education and healthcare access is critical for better outcomes. Improving public education, promoting adherence, and addressing healthcare barriers are necessary to enhance diabetes management
